The Philadelphia 76ers are always a team that gets heavily scrutinized for not winning due to the high expectations placed on their team when being led by two stars like Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. Therefore, when they do come up short in the playoffs, a lot of attention gets thrown their way.

There is always a notion that the two of them can’t play together so there are always fake trade proposals to try and break them up and get better fits around for the team. Some believe the Sixers should trade Embiid and put shooters around Simmons and play fast while there’s another school of thought that says they should move Simmons and put shooters around Embiid and play slower.

In a trade proposal sent in by Bleacher Report, this one includes Philadelphia moving Embiid to the Golden State Warriors for Andrew Wiggins and the 2nd overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

B/R on the deal:

Back in February, ESPN’s Tim Bontemps reported that most league executives believed Embiid, not Simmons, would be the one to go if Philly opts to break up the band. That still feels like the wiser choice today because of the big man’s inconsistent effort level and—yes, again—that health history.

Landing spots are tricky to find, but the Sixers could do a lot worse than, say, Andrew Wiggins and a pair of first-rounders from the Warriors.

Wiggins played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Warriors this season averaging 21.8 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 33.2% from deep. The move would allow the Sixers to fix their clunky roster as Al Horford would be moved back to center and Tobias Harris over to the power forward spot. It’s a move that makes sense on the floor and then they would be able to grab a top prospect at number 2 overall.

However, general manager Elton Brand did shoot down any notion of trading Embiid or Simmons. He would much rather build around them rather than break them up which is the smart move. When a team has two huge talents like them, they should take advantage of it all and try to make it work. [lawrence-related id=37614,37610,37607]
