Gervonta “Tank” Davis has already gotten some hype as one of the best young fighters in the world, and the Baltimore native kept that hype train going on Saturday night with an absolutely brutal knockout of Leo Santa Cruz.
The knockout came in the sixth round, after Davis methodically worked Santa Cruz into the corner, then unleashed a left hand that will undoubtedly go down as one of the best knockouts of the year.
The knockout was so good it got a ton of sports legends excited. LeBron James called it the knockout of the year, with Magic Johnson reacting to it by comparing Davis to a young Mike Tyson, and calling him the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Wow.
Here’s the knockout:

Look at how Davis, who we profiled back in 2015, lets Santa Cruz land punches, because he knows he can take them, and just uses that to set up the punch he wants.
This power is absolutely ridiculous.
Look at the reaction from boxing fans:
Knockout of the Year!! My GOODNESS!! Night Night @Gervontaa 👏🏾🙏🏾
