Boston’s Romeo Langford soaks in hitting the game-winner, but knows there’s work to be done

Could the third-year wing be on the precipice of a much-needed leap?

While there are plenty of reasonable explanations as to why a former lottery pick in Boston Celtics third-year wing Romeo Langford hasn’t quite carved a role out for himself in the league just yet ranging from injury luck to COVID-19 to the pandemic itself, the NBA is an unforgiving league.

The former No. 14 pick will need to show some growth this season to assure himself a spot in the league with more security than the sort his defense might provide him on the NBA’s fringes. But in the very first preseason contest of the Celtics’ 2021-22 campaign, Langford hit the game-winning shot with an air of quiet confidence that bodes very well for a positive outcome as described above.

“It felt good,” said Langford. “It felt good to get out there and knock down a couple shots and knock down a big one.”
