Boston stays atop Bleacher Report’s power rankings despite narrow home wins

Good enough to beat out the 23-8 Milwaukee Bucks.

The Boston Celtics are still tops in the eyes of Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey. The Celtics held onto their same spot as the previous week in Bailey’s power rankings despite a bit of shakiness vs. a historically bad foe, with the B/R analyst keeping Boston No. 1 overall for the current week’s ratings.

“The … Celtics survived a scare from the spiraling Detroit Pistons on Thursday,” writes Bailey, “but they’ve generally looked dominant throughout the season.” Noting that Boston is 9-1 in their prior 10 games, he believes “it’s becoming increasingly difficult to argue against them having the best top six of any roster in the league.”

“When at least three of Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford are on the floor, Boston is plus-11.7 points per 100 possessions,” adds Bailey.

Good enough to beat out the 23-8 Milwaukee Bucks, who are just behind the Celtics in the estimation of the B/R NBA analyst.
