Boston College transfer CB Josh DeBerry plans to visit Texas A&M soon

Texas A&M is in need of depth at cornerback next season, and former Boston College CB Josh DeBerry could be the answer, and he’ll be visiting College Station soon

Texas A&M offered former Boston College cornerback Josh DeBerry less than a week ago, and when I merely say offer, he might be the No.1 transfer portal target for the Maroon and White as we sit here today.

DeBerry’s four-year career at BC is the definition of productive, netting 147 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and 2 interceptions from his sophomore to senior season, and with one year of COVID-related eligibility remaining, playing for a contender and putting more tape together is all that matters for the versatile defender.

Without overreacting, Texas A&M’s cornerback depth chart is in shambles in its current state, as transfers Tony Grimes and Sam McCall are currently the most experienced members among an injured group of returners, and a shear lack of depth on the boundary and at nickel after the departures of Jaylon Jones and Antonio Johnson to the 2023 NFL Draft has left us all questioning just how fragile this group could become next season if additions aren’t made soon.

Now, for the much-anticipated update regarding DeBerry’s recruitment with Texas A&M: On Saturday, GigEm247 beat writer Carter Karels revealed that DeBerry is planning on visiting College Station “soon”, as a date should be revealed soon. He also noted the effort the Aggies have put into his recruitment this month, which is obviously a very positive sign moving forward. If the Aggies were to land DeBerry, he would immediately compete for the starting nickel spot against the currently injured junior defensive back, Deuce Harmon.
