Per recent reporting from the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach, it sounds as if the Boston Celtics have made up their minds about how to get the roster to the league’s 15-man maximum for the 2022-23 regular season. The Globe reporter relates that veteran small forward Justin Jackson will fill the ball club’s final open roster spot heading into the team’s opening day showdown with Atlantic Division rival Philadelphia 76ers.
No word yet on any details about the deal and potential salary rates or guarantees for the former 15th overall pick of the Portland Trail Blazers.
But with the team needing some flexibility into the 3-4 range of the wing, there will likely be some playing time for the 6-foot-8 North Carolina native with Boston this season.
Jackson’s 16-point, 4-rebound preseason performance against the Charlotte Hornets on Oct. 7 that saw the Houston native shoot 4-of-8 from 3-point range likely sealed the deal for Boston.
