Boston Celtics to play Milwaukee Bucks to start 2020-21 season

The Celtics will face the new-look Bucks to kick off their 2020-21 campaign.

Just because the Boston Celtics will be without their starting point guard in Kemba Walker and second-year wing Romeo Langford doesn’t mean the folks in charge of the NBA’s schedule took any mercy on the team to start the season.

The powers that be in the league have decided that Boston should play the new-look Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 23 at 7:30 pm ET to start their 2020-21 season’s schedule of games according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

They follow that up with their Atlantic Division rivals the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 25, Christmas Day.

The tilt with Giannis Antetokounmpo, new teammate Jrue Holiday and the rest of the Bucks will not be the first game of the 2020-21 season, however.

That honor falls to the Golden State Warriors and Nets as Kevin Durant faces off with his old team on Dec. 22, followed by a cross-town battle between the Los Angeles Clippers and reigning champion Lakers.

The Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns will also play on the night of the 23rd, completing a strong slate of games for the league’s first three game nights of the season.
