The Boston Celtics revealed their new City Edition jerseys for the 2021-22 NBA season, which they will debut against the reigning league champion Milwaukee Bucks at TD Garden Nov. 12.
Per the press release circulated by the team, the uniforms were designed “to capture the many successful eras of Celtics basketball.” To this end, “Boston’s City Edition uniform top features elements from three different decades. Founded with a solid green base, the uniform projects a white outlined wordmark and number scheme reminiscent of the team’s 1949 uniforms.”
“The back of the jersey features a white nameplate block below the player’s jersey number, a nod to the team’s iconic 1988 warmup jackets,” continues the release, “while the taping around the arms and neck replicates the team’s 1965 uniform.”
This is every player in Boston’s history who wore the Celtics’ No. 16 jersey for at least one game. https://t.co/Ex14WfqNg6
