Boston Celtics players, Udoka’s thoughts on Ime’s first win as head coach

Head coach Ime Udoka secured his first win at the helm of the Boston Celtics Sunday, here’s what he and some players had to say post-game.

On the third try, this season the Boston Celtics secured its win No. 1 on the season and the first of head coach Ime Udoka’s career. The Celtics took down the Houston Rockets 107-97 as Jayson Tatum led the way with 31 points and nine rebounds against a young Rockets team. After the game, Udoka got a post-game shower and the game ball to celebrate the first tick in his head coaching win column.

“It’s special, I just got a water shower in there from the guys and the game ball,” Udoka said on the win. “But I told them it’s overdue, you guys took too long to get it. Thanked Jalen and Romeo for helping, being that they sat out tonight. So, it’s good to get it over with, but not just for the first but just kind of get us rolling on the right foot.”

It took getting past a two-overtime game and a rough home-opener performance to finally get the win Sunday.
