Boston Celtics’ Ime Udoka says Jaylen Brown could be out a ‘week to two’ with hamstring injury

Boston Celtics head coach said guard Jaylen Brown could be out a couple of weeks with an injured hamstring.

Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown could be out for a week or so while he deals with a suspected hamstring strain, according to head coach Ime Udoka. The team has not yet fully assessed the strain, Udoka said, but they will know more once the grade of his strain is determined Sunday.

Udoka said he likely sustained the injury during an isolation play against the Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo, where Brown could be seen grabbing at his hamstring afterward. The first-year head coach also noted that this is not the first time Brown has dealt with an injury of this kind, having dealt with about three other hamstring strains over the past four seasons.

This season Brown has seemed to take another step up in his game at times. He has been averaging a career-high 25.6 points as well as 6.1 rebounds, which has been about his average in each of the past three seasons.

Udoka said he expects the rest of the Celtics’ wing depth to step up in Brown’s absence.
