2020 taught us never to ask “can this get any worse?” because the answer is always yes.
The Seattle Seahawks are 5-10 and about to finish last place in their division for the first time in 25 years. They may have also just lost the heart of their defense for the remainder of their season. Middle linebacker Bobby Wagner was injured on the first defensive snap of the game against the Detroit Lions and had to come off the field.
Wagner went down on the first defensive play. Looked like he slipped while taking on a block and went to the turf awkwardly. He walked off on his own power and has been moving gingerly on the sideline. Taking a seat on the bench now. https://t.co/lgEQk4Ht7a

True to form, Wagner tried to get back on the field a play later but was shooed off by “referee” Tony Corrente.
Like Superman out of a phone booth, Bobby Wagner sprints off the bench straight into the Seahawks' defensive huddle in the middle of the field for this next play. Referee Tony Corrente shooed him back off. He has to miss 1 play after the injury time out

Wagner then was seen heading towards Seattle’s locker room.

The team says he is questionable to return with a knee injury.

These are the first snaps of the 2021 season that Wagner is missing on defense. He’s played at least 98% since 2017.
Cody Barton has come in to take his place at MLB.
