Blue-chip UNC linebacker commit still wants official visit with Florida

Can the Gators flip another 2023 commit? They’ll definitely be trying with this blue-chip UNC linebacker commit.

Florida football’s 2022 schedule is beginning to wane but the action on the recruiting front never slows down under new head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag]. In stark contrast to his predecessor, the nascent skipper has gone balls-to-the-wall when it comes to luring the top prep prospects in the nation to Gainesville, which has resulted in a couple of recent big flips.

One of the final flip targets in the 2023 recruiting cycle is four-star linebacker Kaveion Keys out of Richmond (Virginia) Varina. The 6-foot-3-inch, 205-pound high school senior has already committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels but is still keeping his options open as his recruitment reaches the twilight phase.

Other schools vying for the blue-chip defender’s talent include the Penn State Nittany Lions, Texas A&M Aggies, Virginia Cavaliers and Virginia Tech Hokies. He has already stopped in for official visits with the Heels and Lions and is looking to use his remaining OVs in the days ahead, with UF, TAMU and VT on his radar.

“I want to go to Texas A&M and Florida,” he told Swamp247. “Those are the two I’m eyeing. I really haven’t been in Texas A&M. They’re struggling this year but they still fight when they are out of the game. That’s what I like about them.”

Keys is ranked No. 312 overall and No. 23 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 consensus has him at Nos. 319 and 26, respectively. Both services remain locked in on UNC as the final victor for the young athlete’s signature.
