As the Delaware Blue Coats began the NBA G League Showcase in Las Vegas on Thursday, they ran into former Philadelphia 76ers guard Isaiah Canaan and the Stockton Kings and Canaan was too much handle.
The former Sixers guard, who spent 1.5 seasons in Philadelphia in the middle of the decade, torched the Blue Coats for 39 points off the bench as Stockton earned a 127-120 overtime win over Delaware. Canaan didn’t shoot necessarily well, 11-for-30 overall, but he did knock down six 3-pointers and the Blue Coats couldn’t overcome it.
Sixers product Shake Milton had 27 points, six rebounds, and six assists to lead Delaware while rookie Marial Shayok scored 22 points with six rebounds, Jonah Bolden also had 22 points along with seven rebounds, and Zhaire Smith had 15 points. The Blue Coats built a double-digit lead in the first quarter, but Stockton worked their way back into it and they were not able to recover and hang on for this one.
