Bleacher Report lists Bengals CB Dre Kirkpatrick as free agent who could help Vikings

Would you like to see the Vikings sign former Bengals corner Dre Kirkpatrick?

Vikings cornerbacks Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander both went to the Bengals in free agency this offseason.

Bleacher Report listed a Cincinnati corner who could help replace Waynes and Alexander.

The outlet thinks Bengals corner Dre Kirkpatrick could help the Vikings in free agency. It had this to say about the pick:

Kirkpatrick would be a fit in Minnesota because of his familiarity with head coach Mike Zimmer and his defensive schemes. Zimmer was Cincinnati’s defensive coordinator in 2012, when the Bengals selected Kirkpatrick with a first-round pick. He then coached the Alabama product for two seasons before taking the top job in Minnesota.

Adding a former Bengals cornerback wouldn’t be unprecedented for Zimmer. He brought on cornerback Terence Newman one year after becoming the Vikings head coach.

Newman’s success, plus the lack of depth at cornerback, makes Kirkpatrick an enticing free agent if Minnesota could sign him. I think between him, Holton Hill and Mike Hughes, the team could find two serviceable starters for 2020.
