Blake Corum relishing opportunity to finally face Ohio State while healthy

Will Corum have his best performance of the season on Saturday? #GoBlue

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — It’s been a tough break for Blake Corum when it comes to The Game.

In 2021, the Michigan football running back was able to play against Ohio State, but he wasn’t fully healthy. He broke a long run, but his injury hampered his speed and he was caught before reaching the end zone. In 2022, Corum suffered a brutal knee injury the week before The Game against Illinois. He was dressed and tried to play, but after two snaps, he realized he wasn’t able to cut, and missed the rest of the game.

But this year, while his production hasn’t been quite as impressive as the last two years to this point, Corum is entering The Game fully healthy, and he couldn’t be more excited.

“When I woke up this morning, I’m like, “Man, it’s game week!’ Finally, I get to play in The Game — you know, healthy,” Corum said. “So, I’m super excited, but I’m trying to remain calm, so make sure I prepare really well.

“But yeah, last two years, sophomore year, a little banged up with the ankle. Last year, tried but couldn’t, so this game means a lot. It’s not only my first time being healthy, but it’s going to be my last time in The Big House, playing in front of the best fan base, with my brothers, and the best coaches. And so I’m super excited to say the least — I’m super excited.”

With that in mind, it will also be Ohio State’s first time facing off against Michigan’s feature back in a starring role. What does he think makes him so hard to bring down? What kind of player would he describe himself as?

Corum isn’t going to divulge anything that could help the Buckeyes, so he says they’ll just have to find out for themselves.

“Yeah, I think they’re gonna watch their film. I don’t want to put anything why I feel like it’s hard to tackle me or anything like that,” Corum said. “They have to watch their film. But I think they’ll be prepared for whatever I have to bring and I think it’s gonna be a great matchup.”

Michigan and Ohio State are set to kick off at The Big House at noon EST on Saturday with the game being nationally broadcast on Fox.
