No. 5 Tennessee (22-4, 3-3 SEC) defeated Tennessee Tech (13-12, 1-2 OVC), 11-1 in seven innings, on Tuesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Rankings reflect the USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll.
Tennessee junior first baseman Blake Burke went 2-for-2 in the contest. He recorded two RBIs, one run and one walk.
Burke also hit his 39th career home run in the fifth inning. Luc Lipcius holds Tennessee’s career home run record. Lipcius hit 40 home runs for the Vols from 2017-22.
Burke hit 16 home runs as a sophomore in 2022, while hitting 14 as a freshman in 2022.
Tennessee will next play Georgia on Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. EDT and can be watched on SEC Network+.
