Blade Tidwell wins first SEC start as Vols shut out Florida.

No. 1 Tennessee won its sixth consecutive Southeastern Conference series Saturday, claiming a 3-0 victory over Florida at Condron Ballpark in Gainesville.

Pitcher Blade Tidwell made his first conference start for the Volunteers (36-3, 16-1 SEC).

Tidwell (1-0) pitched 4.2 innings against the Gators (23-16. 7-10 SEC). He allowed two hits and one walk.

Camden Sewell recorded his first save of the 2022 campaign, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing one walk with two strikeouts.

Tennessee and Florida were tied 0-0 until Luc Lipcius hit a solo home run in the fifth inning.

The Vols extended its advantage to 3-0 in the sixth inning when Drew Gilbert had a two-run home run.

Jordan Beck doubled and scored for Tennessee, which will go for a series sweep Sunday.

First pitch is slated for noon EDT and the game will be televised on ESPN+.
