Former Vol Blade Tidwell makes professional debut.

Former Tennessee pitcher Blade Tidwell made his professional debut Tuesday for the Florida Complex League Mets, a Rookie-level affiliate of the New York Mets.

Tidwell started and pitched one inning in the FCL Mets’ 8-4 win against FCL Astros Blue.

Tidwell recorded two strikeouts and one walk Tuesday.

The former Vol was selected by New York in the second round (No. 52 overall) of the 2022 MLB draft.

The 6-foot-4, 207-pound Tidwell (3-2) appeared in 13 games for the Vols in 2022. He recorded 51 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA during the 2022 campaign.

Tidwell played at Loretto High School in Loretto, Tennessee.
