Former Tennessee pitcher Blade Tidwell is playing with the St. Lucie Mets.
St. Lucie competes in the Florida State League and is a Single-A affiliate of the New York Mets.
Tidwell was selected by New York in the second round (No. 52 overall) of the 2022 MLB draft.
The 6-foot-4, 207-pound Tidwell (3-2) appeared in 13 games for the Vols in 2022. He recorded 51 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA during the 2022 campaign.
Tidwell started for St. Lucie in game No. 2 of a best-of-three FSL championship series.
Tidwell pitched five innings in the Mets 6-3 win against Dunedin, winning the FSL championship. St. Lucie defeated the Blue Jays, 6-5, in game No. 1.
