BJ Green II gave new Colorado graduate assistant and Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Sapp a stark reminder of his immense strength during the Buffs’ third preseason practice on Wednesday.
In a video posted by Thee Pregame Show, Green didn’t hold back when executing an apparent pass-rushing drill with Sapp acting as the defensive lineman’s target. Sapp, who was holding a blocking pad, was sent to the ground when met with the charging 6-foot-1, 270-pound Green.
Although shaken up and rubbing his left shoulder following Green’s blast, Sapp didn’t appear to have suffered any significant injury. The 51-year-old NFL great eventually re-entered the drill and stayed on his feet when matched up with Green again.
Green, an Arizona State transfer who began his career as a walk-on, was named to the preseason watch list for the Outland Trophy, presented annually to college football’s top interior lineman.
