After splitting a doubleheader in the opening day of the Razorback Invitational on Thursday, the Arkansas softball team took both games of the doubleheader Friday.
The Razorbacks needed 11 innings, but knocked off Drake in the first of two games Friday, 4-3. They followed by taking the rubber match against Arizona, 2-1. The victory over the Wildcats gave Arkansas two in three against Arizona.
Rylin Hedgecock broke the 1-all tie the second game with a solo home run in the sixth inning. Chenise Delce came back out to the mound in the seventh and struck out the side, though Arizona did advance a runner to third base because of a single, a wild pitch and a passed ball.
The opener Friday was even more dramatic as Arkansas forced extra innings in their final chance in the seventh inning against Drake when Cylie Halvorson’s RBI single scored Hannah Gammill to tie the game at three.
Then, in the 11th inning, with the bases loaded and two outs, Halvorson singled to left field to score Lauren Camenzind for the game-winner.
Arkansas has two games remaining against the Bulldogs. The first is Saturday at 1 p.m. from Bogle Park and the finale is Sunday at 11 a.m.
