Bills-Titans staying put on Tuesday, barring circumstantial changes

Buffalo Bills Week 5 game with Tennessee Titans will not be moved on Sunday.

As things currently sit on Sunday afternoon, the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans’ Week 5 contest will kickoff, as scheduled, on Tuesday.

First, the NFL announced a slew of COVID-19 related schedule changes on Sunday around 3 p.m. In that league memo, there were eight different notes and alterations to when games would be played, but none involved the moving of Tuesday’s Bills-Titans contest.

The reason why Buffalo’s game in Tennessee might have been included in a schedule update via the NFL was because of an early Sunday report that indicated the Titans had a new staff member test positive for COVID-19 this weekend.

In addition the lack of movement for the Bills-Titans in that memo, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler specifically reported that Buffalo’s game,  as of now, is not on the NFL’s list of games that will be moved.

The league indicate that Buffalo would have another game moved, though. The Bills’ Week 6 meeting with the Chiefs was officially moved from Thursday Night Football to Monday Night Football. The Bills and Chiefs will kickoff at 5 p.m. on Oct. 19 now.

The NFL has not released an official announcement as to why it still wants the Bills and Titans to play on Tuesday still despite the latest news from Tennessee. Speculation insists that the reason might be because a Titans coach, not a player, tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday. That coach reportedly hasn’t been around players, so the league appears to be banking on no further new positive coronavirus test results on Monday or Tuesday ahead of kickoff.

Fingers crossed.
