Buffalo Bills pass rusher Von Miller took a step backward in his return from injury against the New England Patriots.
The 29-25 loss was Miller’s third game since his 2022 season-ending knee injury. From the first game to the second, his snaps increased.
Then they fell off a cliff against the Patriots (2-5). The 33-year-old only took six snaps for the Bills (4-3).
Following the loss, Miller noted in the locker room that he feels fine. But he did mention he does not have a training camp or many full practices under his belt. That could be a reason why he doesn’t appear to be fully healthy just yet.
“I’m feeling good. You just got to keep on playing,” Miller said. “I didn’t have a training camp. Which is the six weeks you have to get ready–and it’s like like boom [he returns]– I’ve had three padded practices.”
But there was also a moment during the Pats contest where Miller appeared to be limping. Once he got off the field after that moment in the second quarter, he did not return. Miller’s name could be one to watch when injury reports for Week 8’s contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are released despite him downplaying anything being wrong.
Regardless, there are no outside pressures on Miller. Head coach Sean McDermott tried his best to pump the brakes regarding any pressure on Miller to get back to 100 percent following the loss to the Pats.
“I think you’ve got to manage expectations,” McDermott said.
