Bills’ Stefon Diggs compares Vikings exit to Deshaun Watson saga

Buffalo Bills WR Stefon Diggs on Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson.

Things worked out for Stefon Diggs in the end… will that happen for Deshaun Watson?

On Thursday, the Buffalo Bills wide receiver joined ESPN’s First Take and had some interesting comparisons between himself and NFL’s biggest offseason storyline.

Once upon a time, Diggs was upset with the Minnesota Vikings and wanted to leave. Flash forward and he’s with the Bills.

Now imagine that saga under a microscope twice as big and you’ve got Watson. Currently the Houston Texans quarterback, Watson wants out. By the nature of the beast with Watson being one of the NFL’s best players at the most important position… many more people are curious to see how things will shakeout with Watson as compared to what Diggs went through.

But considering the circumstances, things are pretty similar and Diggs interestingly compared his situation to the ongoing one with Watson.

“You want to trust the people you work with,” Diggs said. “I kind of heard a couple of tidbits from former players and guys like that who said like, basically, ‘You should be quiet and play the game’ but we don’t live in that world no more.

“Especially with a Black player. A young Black player who has some success, who has proven he’s one of the elite, young quarterbacks in the league, I’m a huge fan of Deshaun Watson, I think he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the league,” Diggs continued. “For a man to be upset or a man to want something different for himself, I don’t think he’s wrong for that. I was one of those unique situations where it worked out.”

While Buffalo maybe is not as invested in the Watson situation because they have their own proven quarterback now in Josh Allen, maybe they should be. Watson could very likely be on the move and the two teams with the best odds to land him are the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins. Watson to the AFC East would certainly be of interest to Buffalo.
