It’s been a bit of a weird few weeks and in the midst of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, some Buffalo Bills things might’ve slipped through the cracks.
Or perhaps just something you might not realize.
Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott has yet to discuss the team’s addition of wide receiver Stefon Diggs to this point. On Thursday, he finally got there via conference call.
Like Bills general manager Brandon Beane, who we have heard from, the tape speaks for itself with Diggs.
“At the end, if you look at the production that Stefon has experienced over the course of his career, that speaks for itself,” McDermott said. “He’s played in big games and he’s had big roles in those games.”
“It’s an opportunity for us to get us a good football player that’ll help us win,” McDermott added.
Along with his expected thoughts on Diggs, McDermott also dropped an interesting nugget in regard to Diggs, quarterback Josh Allen, and the passing attack in its entirety.
McDermott explained that the team missing spring workouts due to the ongoing virus may hurt the passing game the most. That’s because the coach estimated about 70 percent of workouts conducted are passing ones during that time. By training camp, it’s more of a 50-50 split with the running game because pads eventually come on. That’s some valuable time lost, especially with a big year ahead for Allen. Many want to see a step forward in Year 3.
But McDermott also used his chat to dust off his latest football guy (and kind of cheesy) new team motto for the Bills with all things considered: “Find a way.” Allen’s going to have do just that, especially since the rest of the NFL will be battling the same circumstances. No excuses.
