Bills’ Sean McDermott on social unrest, George Floyd protests

What Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott told his team in regard to George Floyd protests.

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott touched on various normal football-related topics during his offseason chat with the media via video chat on Wednesday.

But considering the ongoing social unrest in the United States following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, which has included protest in all over including Buffalo, McDermott had a slew of questions which were relating to this new topic.

McDermott acknowledged that he spoke to his team about the ongoing situation hitting the country. On the video of Floyd’s death, McDermott said he was “disgusted” and “ashamed” at what happened. In regard to the discussions he had with members of the Bills, here’s what McDermott said via the team:

During his discussion, McDermott also mentioned how he had similar meetings with the team in 2017 when Colin Kaepernick visited Buffalo during his time with the 49ers when the quarterback was peacefully protesting before games during the national anthem. McDermott also did not condone any violent actions that have been connected to protests throughout the country.
