No Josh Allen, no problem for the Buffalo Bills?
Not exactly.
The Bills topped the Pittsburgh Steelers, 9-3, in their second preseason outing. Despite it being announced that quarterback Josh Allen would suit up alongside the rest of the team’s starters… he did not.
Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott explained why following the win. It was a simple reason: The weather.
Because of the conditions in Pittsburgh, rainy and not pretty, Allen did not play. He stuck around on the sideline.
“I didn’t feel like in my gut it was the right thing to do,” McDermott said via video conference.
Prior to the start of the preseason, Allen himself did say he has little to gain from suiting up in exhibition games. But he did add his competitive drive does push him to play, even in the preseason, so it might have taken some convincing.
Instead of Allen, Mitchell Trubisky started against his former team. While Trubisky did struggle, he dealt with a knee injury too.
Only one more preseason matchup left before Allen starts… no matter what… and stays in regardless of weather.
