Bills restructure CB Tre’Davious White’s cap hit

CB Tre’Davious White restructures contract with Buffalo Bills.

The Buffalo Bills and cornerback Tre’Davious White moved around some finances in his contract to give the team some more cap space this offseason.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, White had part of his $9.46 million base salary for next season converted into a signing bonus. In doing so, the Bills added near $7.6M in cap space.

Overall, White’s cap hit was dropped down to approximately $6.8M. in 2021.

Earlier this offseason, the Bills already restructured other deals with players. Those included center Mitch Morse, and defensive linemen Mario Addison and Vernon Butler.

The reasoning for the Bills and other teams restructuring contracts so much this offseason is because of the drop to this year’s salary cap. Due to COVID-19 keeping fans out of venues in 2020, NFL revenues dropped, causing the salary cap to also be lowered.

The cap is expected to go up again in 2022 as long as fans do attend games.
