O’Cyrus Torrence had a quiet NFL debut.
As far as offensive lineman go? That’s a great start.
Torrence, the Bills’ second-round rookie, started at right guard against the Jets. While it ended up a disappointing 22-16 overtime loss, Torrence was a bright spot.
Of all five starting offensive linemen for the Bills, Torrence earned the highest grade from Pro Football Focus. A 69.7 overall.
“He’s off to a good start,” head coach Sean McDermott said via video conference.
Veteran center Mitch Morse was even more impressed.
“I have a lot of admiration for how he (handled it). I remember my first game and how he felt as a rookie. To have that on the road, versus that defense on 9/11, in New York City?,” Morse said via video conference. “I thought he did a very good job.”
Moving on from the season opener, Torrence himself has his eye on continuing his strong play. But he’s excited about the upcoming environment, too.
The Bills will host the Las Vegas Raiders in their home opener on Sunday. Torrence is well aware that Bills Mafia will be just as ready as he is for the game.
“I’m expecting for it to be crazy,” Torrence said.
