From 90 to 53 is what we’re usually used to in training camp for the Buffalo Bills. The team will enter the offseason practices and exhibition season with around 90 players and will eventually cut down to near 53.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, teams might be altering some plans though as 2020’s training camp nears. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “in an effort to combat COVID-19” teams will be allowed to bring less players into training camp.
While there’s no reported hard number for teams, the report indicates that “no one is expecting 90 [players]” for any team. Schefter speculates the number would be 75 or 80.
In addition, the report mentions some prior-reported news. Many are expecting that training squads could be increased in player totals as a precaution in case a coronavirus outbreak hits a team. That number could be 16 players, per this new report.
