The price of the construction of the Buffalo Bills’ new stadium has increased.
But there’s no cause for concern found here.
On Monday, the team released new renderings of the venue.
On the same day, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced that the cost of the stadium will increase.
Originally, the agreed upon price tag for the facility was $1.4 billion and taxpayers were set to front $850 million. According to the Buffalo News, the project’s total figure has had an increase of $140M, bringing the final number to $1.54B.
However, that money is not coming out of the taxpayers budget.
Per Poloncarz, the original deal struck with the Bills states any increases will be covered by the team.
Officially, the terms of the deal have not yet to be signed by the team, Erie County and New York State. The stadium is not in jeopardy at all, but the final signing is expected to take place soon.
The construction of the facility is reportedly going to begin this spring and the hope is for the stadium to open in 2026.
