Bills name Eric Washington DL coach

Buffalo Bills have hired Eric Washington as their defensive line coach.

The Bills have found their replacement for defensive line coach Bill Teerlinck on Friday, naming Eric Washington to the position.

Washington, 50, spent the past two seasons as the Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator but then was let go since he was part of Ron Rivera’s staff and he lost his position there earlier this season.

Prior to holding that role, Washington was Carolina’s defensive line coach from 2011-17, which overlaps with the time Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane spent with the Panthers.

According to the Bills, during his tenure and the Panthers’ D-line coach, the group led the NFL with 244.5 sacks in that time span.
