Quarterback Patrick Mahomes played a road playoff game for the first time on Sunday, taking on Josh Allen and Buffalo Bills. The venue didn’t matter as the Kansas City Chiefs moved on to the AFC Championship Game for the sixth consecutive year.
Mahomes threw two touchdown passes in a 27-24 win, overcoming Allen’s three total touchdowns in the game.
It was a wild game, as there were nine scores in the first 11 possessions of the game, but after Isiah Pacheco’s four-yard run with 14:20 to go in the fourth quarter, nobody scored.
The Bills turned the ball over on downs on a failed fake punt. The Chiefs fumbled the ball out of the end zone when they were about to score and the Bills missed a 41-yard field goal wide-right to tie the game with 1:43 left in the game.
Allen and the Bills are 3-0 against Mahomes and the Chiefs in the regular season but 0-3 against them in the playoffs.
The Chiefs now move on to the AFC title game to play the Baltimore Ravens, 34-10 winners over the Houston Texans on Saturday.
