Bills might have ended the Jets’ Zach Wilson era

Wilson was benched against the #Bills and will stay there moving forward:

According to some fans of the New York Jets, the Buffalo Bills might have actually done their AFC East rivals a favor in Week 11.

The Bills (6-5) defeated the Jets (4-6) at Highmark Stadium. The rout saw Gang Green eventually sit quarterback Zach Wilson on the bench.

Now that’s set to stay. Reports indicate that New York will start backup quarterback Tim Boyle in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins.

Wilson was benched during Sunday’s 32-6 loss to the Bills after going just 7-for-15 for 81 yards. He didn’t complete a single pass to a wide receiver. Buffalo cornerback Rasul Douglas picked off Wilson in the outing.

Boyle replaced Wilson late in the third quarter. He finished 7-for-14 for 33 yards. Friday will mark Boyle’s first start since 2021 when he was with the Detroit Lions. He featured in one game last season with the Chicago Bears.

Ironically enough, the Jets first benched Wilson heading into Week 12 last season as well.

If Wilson does not receive another start in New York, the former No. 2 overall pick will have an 11-20 overall record as a starter.

Wilson is signed to his rookie contract through next season, but with Aaron Rodgers hopeful to return before the end of this year, it’s likely Rodgers will play in 2024 with Wilson riding out the rest of his contract from the bench.
