Zach Charbonnet is on the radar of the Buffalo Bills ahead of the 2023 NFL draft.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the UCLA running back had a top-30 visit in Buffalo prior to the draft. In total, Charbonnet reportedly met with five teams ahead of the event.
Charbonnet is projected to be a Day 2 selection. Buffalo could still be interested in drafting a running back despite recent additions to the group.
Damien Harris signed a one-year contract during free agency, joining the likes of James Cook and Nyheim Harris on the Bills roster.
Despite those three, Buffalo has traditionally carried more backs than that on their roster. The team did not re-sign Taiwan Jones this offseason, so Charbonnet could potentially be added in the mix–But Charbonnet or someone else on the roster would have to make up for the loss of Jones’ play on special teams.
While it’s anticipated Charbonnet will not be amongst the first running backs selected at the draft, he still has the makings of an every-down back. Charbonnet carries a six-foot, 214-pound frame.
In his final season at UCLA, Charbonnet had a monster year. He set career-highs in rushing yards (1,359), yards per carry (7.0) and touchdowns (14).
Each offseason, NFL teams are only allocated a certain number of top-30 visit with prospects. The Bills using one on Charbonnet does show a heightened level of interest in him.
