Matt Barkley is back… dotted-line official.
Last week, the quarterback teased on social media with a post that he might be returning to his former team in the Buffalo Bills.
Now he has.
On Monday, the Bills announced that Barkley has signed a one-year deal with the team.
Barkley spent the 2018 to 2020 seasons in Buffalo. Mostly only playing when games were already decided, Barkley did get a few decent, meaningful showings out of Barkley.
Prior to last season, Buffalo opted to sign Mitchell Trubisky as Josh Allen’s backup in favor of having Barkley resume his role there.
Trubisky went on to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, leaving an opening behind Allen.
In addition to Barkley, the Bills also traded for Cleveland Browns quarterback Case Keenum. Barkley and Keenum might not exactly be battling for any spots with the team, though.
Along with Trubisky leaving, so did fellow backup Davis Webb. He joined the New York Giants, so the Bills had multiple QB roster spots to fill this offseason and appear to have done so.
