The Buffalo Bills are in the quarterback market once more.
According to Aaron Wilson from Houston’s KPRC 2 TV, the Texans are expected to sign Case Keenum to a two-year deal. Terms of the deal were not announced.
Keenum, 35, was traded to Buffalo by the Cleveland Browns last March. Upon doing so, he signed a restructured contract to spend the 2022 season as the backup to Josh Allen and was a pending free agent.
Keenum’s departure leaves the Bills with only Matt Barkley behind their franchise quarterback.
It remains to be seen how Buffalo addresses the hole left by Keenum.
Early in Allen’s career, the Bills often tabbed veterans, such as Keenum and Barkley, to work behind him. Now entering the sixth-year of his career in 2023, could Buffalo decide it’s worth grooming a younger backup behind Allen?
It remains to be seen. In recent years, Allen has been a highly-durable player that has rarely left the lineup. But that veteran experience isn’t always the worst idea to have behind your No. 1.
