The 2021 NFL season is only a day away. Why not look toward the 2022 NFL draft, right?

Knowing it’s way too soon to consider the upcoming draft, our friends over at Draft Wire still did. So why not take a peep at their thoughts?

In the first round at pick No. 30 (the draft order was determined by current Super Bowl odds), the Bills take corner Ahmad Gardner from Cincinnati.

Here’s the breakdown on Gardner via analyst Luke Easterling:

The Bills have one of the NFL’s best corners in Tre’Davious White, but they need an upgrade on the other side of the field. Next year’s draft class should give them plenty of attractive options late in the first round, and Gardner should already be on their radar.

When your nickname is “Sauce,” you know you have the confidence and swag to be a shutdown corner at the next level. It also helps when you’re 6-3 and 200 pounds. Gardner checks all of those boxes and more.

In Gardner, as suggested, the Bills would find their long-term solution across from White. Since entering the league, the Bills have tossed a slew of different players there. Most often, that’s been Levi Wallace.

Heading into 2021, Wallace is on a one-year deal and will start the season across from White once again. Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott just announced that on Friday.

It also might be Wallace’s last chance to prove he’s worthy of being given the No.2 cornerback job for the long term. During his career, Wallace has been steady but, never really spectacular.

Time for him to show he can be that.
