Bills lock in their 2024 NFL postseason seed with win over Jets

The Buffalo Bills know exactly where they stand heading into the 2024 NFL postseason even with one more game remaining in the regular season.

The Bills (13-3) have locked in the No. 2 overall seed in the AFC following their 40-14 rout of the New York Jets (4-12) in Week 17.

Despite Buffalo’s head-to-head win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11, the Chiefs had already taken the top-overall spot in the AFC because of their record. Kansas City beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day this week to earn a 15-1 record which the Bills can no longer best.

With the No. 1 spot, Kansas City has earned first-round bye in the playoffs.

However, Buffalo did themselves some good against the Jets. In winning, the Bills can rest their starters in their season finale against the New England Patriots just like the Chiefs will do–so there’s still a defacto bye that was earned.
