Bills LB Terrel Bernard named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

#Bills LB Terrel Bernard named AFC Defensive Player of the Week:

Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard isn’t just the replacement for Tremaine Edmunds anymore.

He’s the award-winning replacement.

The NFL announced on Wednesday that Bernard was named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts against the Washington Commanders in Week 3.

In the 37-3 final, the Bills linebacker finished with seven total tackles — two for loss — two sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery, and a pass defensed.

Bernard became the first player with at least two sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery in a single game since Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher.

Bernard’s outing came one game after he recorded his first-career interception against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 2.

It’s also the second week in a row a Buffalo player has been noted by the NFL. The Raiders’ matchup saw Bills quarterback Josh Allen earn Offensive Player of the Week honors.
