The Buffalo Bills lost in overtime to the Philadelphia Eagles because they did not score a touchdown like their opponent did.
But the Bills (6-6) had a heck of a look at it.
Buffalo won the OT coin toss. With the ball, the Bills converted on third downs and worked their way down the field. But on the final one of those, quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Gabe Davis missed a chance to take the win with a touchdown.
Davis was open. The ball sailed wide of him. Buffalo kicked a field goal, and Philadelphia scored a touchdown to take the 37-34 win.
“I thought our guys had great effort. Just gotta make one more play,” Allen said postgame.
That was the play. Allen and Davis missed it. So what happened?
Davis said the two just weren’t on the “same page,” and it cost the Bills.
The receiver’s full reaction to the miss can be found in the WROC-TV clip below:
Asked Gabe Davis if it should be simple for he and Josh Allen to read the same thing against a complex defense with blitzers flying in a tight spot, late.
His answer summed up: Yes, it should. #Bills pic.twitter.com/G1lby9w9JM
