Buffalo Bills wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is slated to be a free agent come March.

He might not get that far, though.

Sanders, 34, said this week he is considering hanging ’em up and retiring instead of testing the market.

“For the past three years, [I’ve] been traveling and moving from team to team, trying to win a Super Bowl. But I’ve got some reflecting I want to want to do and possibly retire,” Sanders said via “The Herd” on FOX Sports. “I don’t know yet. I’m just feeling it out.”

Last offseason, Sanders was a veteran addition for the Bills. He signed a one-year deal.

Early in 2021, Sanders was more productive. Down the stretch, second-year wideout Gabriel Davis then started standing out a bit more. Davis certainly ended the season well, scoring a NFL record four touchdown passes in Buffalo’s playoff overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

But even if the Bills do move ahead with Davis as their No. 2 receiver behind Stefon Diggs, there’s a chance the team could still have a spot for Sanders. Buffalo does pass the ball a ton and the front office has touted Sanders’ leadership abilities.

At his end of season press conference, Bills general manager Brandon Beane said at that time, he had not talked to Sanders about returning.

However, he was not closed off to the idea.

“If he said he wanted to come back, I would definitely listen. We would have to work the business out,” Beane said.

Sanders tallied 42 catches for 626 yards with four touchdowns for the Bills this season. He was limited to 14 games due to a knee injury.
