The NFL announced the initial 2024 Pro Bowl rosters and two members of the Buffalo Bills were part of the AFC roster off the bat: offensive lineman Dion Dawkins and running back James Cook.
Dawkins will be making his third consecutive Pro Bowl appearance. He became the first Bills’ offensive lineman to earn three or more selections since Ruben Brown. He was voted in eight times from 1996-2003.
Throughout 2023, Buffalo’s offensive line has been held in very high esteem at Pro Football Focus. The football analytics outlet currently grades the group the fifth-best offensive line in the NFL. Of the Bills’ five starters, Dawkins has the highest mark of the bunch at a 73.7 overall, which includes a 75.9 pass-blocking mark.
Cook has been honored for the first time in his career. He ranks third in the NFL with 1,086 yards rushing. Cook is the first Bills running back picked for the Pro Bowl since LeSean McCoy in 2017.
Along with the duo, multiple other Bills players were named alternates for the game. Those include:
- First alternate: QB Josh Allen, WR Stefon Diggs.
- Second alternate: OL Mitch Morse, DE Leonard Floyd.
- Third alternate: TE Dalton Kincaid, DT Ed Oliver.
- Fifth alternate: TE Dawson Knox.
