Bills tight end Dawson Knox did not land in CBS Sports‘ list of the top-10 tight ends in the NFL.

This ranking did include some top names. It’s expected that the Chiefs’ Travis Kelce and 49ers’ George Kittle will lead the way on such a operation and that is the case.

On the other end of the 10, the first three to slot in are:

  • 10. Zach Ertz (Cardinals)
  • 9. Dalton Schultz (Cowboys)
  • 8. TJ Hockenson (Lions)

While Knox did put together a breakout 2021 season a year ago, it’s clear to see why he didn’t crack this top 10. Knox had a good year, but he’s got to prove it again.

By comparison, all three of the players listed above had more catches (49) than Knox in 2021. His yardage (587) only outranks Hockenson by a few.

Where Knox really made his bread-and-butter was in the end zone. He notched nine touchdowns, better than the entire crew.

If Knox continues and even adds to those successes in 2022, he’ll likely find a way to crack such a list in the future. Currently he’s probably more in “honorable mention” territory.
