The Jacksonville City Council passed legislation for the Jaguars’ $1.4 billion plans to renovate EverBank Stadium this week.
Per Jaguars Wire, new updates include:
Among the stadium plans include installing a canopy to provide shade, rain cover and improved airflow for 100% of observers in outdoor seating; increased air conditioning; doubling the width of the main concourse and creating 360° connectivity on the upper concourse; 16 new escalators and 12 new elevators; 12 new restrooms and renovations and expansions to existing restrooms; and 190 new points of food and beverage sale.
But here’s the interesting nugget regarding the Buffalo Bills. According to reports, the Jags will have to play in a different location in 2026 and 2027 in order for the renovations to take place. Options include, per Jaguars Wire:
The team will likely play at Camping World Stadium in Orlando or Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville in 2027 while most of the construction is conducted.
As the NFL rotates their schedule each year, that means the Buffalo Bills will end up playing in one of these locations in 2027. The AFC East and AFC South will faceoff that year, but there’s a possibility it could happen sooner depending on the way standings unfold in more recent years.
And in terms of “interesting locations,” there is a chance this contest goes down in London as well. However, speaking of rotations, the Bills and Jags did battle there just last season so that seems unlikely.
