Bad news: Quarterback Tom Brady is still ahead of the Bills in Sporting News‘ latest power rankings following the 2020 NFL Draft.
But who cares? He’s not Buffalo’s problem anymore, so let’s be thankful for the top-five finish the Bills earned in this list.
Sporting News ranked the Bills as their No. 5 team in their recently released power rankings:
5. Buffalo Bills
The Bills’ offensive improvements around Josh Allen had a strong second phase with Stefon Diggs and Zack Moss in the mix to fit in with all their successful skill and line changes from a year ago. The defense lost Jordan Phillips, Shaq Lawson and Lorenzo Alexander but added A.J. Klein, A.J. Epenesa and Quinton Jefferson. Buffalo should rule the AFC East with the Patriots finally moving on from Brady and also be a bigger factor in the playoffs.
The Bills are certainly the AFC East favorites currently. But the conference overall? That’s some big praise for Buffalo if they reach such levels. The Bills’ division is much easier for them to navigate, on paper, at least. The AFC overall does still hold the defending champion Chiefs and reigning MVP in Lamar Jackson. Tough playoff tests could be ahead, and it’ll be fun to see what happens.
Overall on the power rankings, the Chiefs edge out the Ravens for the top spot, followed by the 49ers and Bucs right ahead of the Bills. The rest of the AFC East lands pretty far back. The Patriots are at No. 19, with the Jets and Dolphins at No. 26 and 30, respectively.
