Bill Belichick reveals what position group gives him most confidence ahead of roster cuts

Belichick reveals the position group that gives him the most confidence ahead of the roster cutdown day.

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick got a surprise visit from legendary sportscaster Chris Berman at Monday’s press conference. Leave it to Berman to knock it out of the park with a great question ahead of the 53-man roster cut deadline on Tuesday.

Belichick was asked what position he felt the most confident about heading into the final roster cutdown day. The answer seemed simple enough for the longtime defensive guru, when asked if it was the safety position.

“That’s probably No. 1,” said Belichick, via NESN’s Zack Cox.

The Patriots coach then followed up with mentions of Devin McCourty, Kyle Dugger, Adrian Phillips, Jabrill Peppers and Myles Bryant.

The safety position is full of versatile playmakers for the Patriots, and it’s going to be a lot of fun to see how Belichick utilizes the group to attack opposing offenses throughout the season.

They won’t have to wait long to get tested with a head-to-head clash with the Miami Dolphins slated for the season-opener. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has plenty of receiving weapons this year, including former Kansas City Chiefs star wideout Tyreek Hill.

The Patriots’ defensive backfield will have their work cut out for them.
