New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick took a moment to get really distant from his players during practice on Wednesday.
During the short glimpse into the team’s first session (as shown on a stream on Patriots.com), Belichick was hanging out by himself in the middle of New England’s practice field. He was donning a mask, which is good protocol by the NFL’s (and the CDC’s) standards. Of course, Belichick admitted he’s continued to take a hands-on approach with his players, for the most part. His methods have gone relatively unchanged in the pandemic. But this moment seemed emblematic, in a way, of what’s happening around the NFL as they try to operate in a pandemic.

As usual, Belichick is leading by example.
