Bill Belichick bristles at question about Patriots’ enduring thick and thin

Bill Belichick didn’t love this question.

Coach Bill Belichick didn’t like a reporters question following the New England Patriots’ 20-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans in the wild-card playoffs on Saturday night.

The reporter asked him if he had a message for the Patriots fans, who have stuck with him through thick and thin.

“We appreciate our fans,” Belichick said. “I wouldn’t say it’s been all that thin around here, personally. Maybe you feel differently, but I haven’t heard too many fans say that. Of course we appreciate our fans. We have a great relationship with them, they’re here for us and we always try to perform our best so they can be proud of the way we perform.”

Surely, Belichick is alluding to the six Super Bowl championships and the nine AFC championships and the 17 AFC East tiles that New England has enjoyed under his leadership. Of course, the question was meant to be complimentary — but Belichick’s patience seemed thin.
