Big Ten’s ‘big three’ lead the way in week ten rankings

Five Big Ten teams are ranked in the polls ahead of week ten.

The Big Ten Conference is again leading the way nationally in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll.

The Big Ten has three of the top five teams in the country heading into week ten, with the Oregon Ducks leading the way at No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches Polls. The Ducks received 61 of 62 first-place votes in the AP Poll and 53 of 54 first-place votes in the coaches poll.

The SEC’s Georgia Bulldogs was the only other program to receive first-place votes this week.

The Penn State Nittany Lions and Ohio State Buckeyes remain the No. 3 and No. 4. The two Big Ten powers will meet this week in Happy Valley for one of the biggest college football games this season.

After Ohio State, the next highest-ranked Big Ten team is the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers. After a blowout victory over the Washington Huskies, the Hoosiers remained at No. 13 in both polls.

The final Big Ten team ranked in this week’s polls was the Illinois Fighting Illini, who, after a weekend loss to Oregon, fell to No. 23 in the Coaches Poll, down three spots, and No. 24 in the AP Poll, down four spots.

No other Big Ten teams received votes in this week’s AP Poll, while the Michigan Wolverines received one vote in the coaches poll.
